5 things you really don't want to miss at the Zuiderparktheater this summer

Fancy summer, sunshine and balmy evenings? Then you have to go to Zuiderparktheater. This green pearl in The Hague celebrates its 10th anniversary with an extra festive programme. We list 5 highlights you will want to experience.

1. Ellen ten Damme among the stars (4 July)
Together with Leo Blokhuis, she sings the soundtrack of your summer on 4 July. From The Beatles to the Lambada. Sultry, swinging and full of memories.

2. Herman van Veen at his finest (20 August)
On 20 August, this grand master celebrates his 80th birthday at the open-air theatre. Intimate, poetic and unforgettable. Together with his ensemble, he performs a personal show full of music, stories and poetry. And the great thing is: you get to help decide what he plays. Visitors can send in a request number in advance. So if you have one favourite that you have always wanted to hear live, this is your chance. Mail your wish to letja@harlekijnholland.com and who knows, maybe your song will soon be on the programme!

3. Six weeks of free Holiday Park for kids (21 July to 28 August)
Every week, new workshops, performances and works of art to participate in. Like the floating elephant made from litter. And: it's completely free.

4. Dance under the stars at Latin and Mama Africa and more
Summer nights when you can't stand still? Then Zuiderpark is the place to be. Latin in the Park (19 July, 8 August and 6 September) brings you salsa, bachata and reggaeton with Caribbean vibes and Haagse gezelligheid. On 26 July it is time for Mama Africa in the Park, with rousing Afrobeat, Amapiano and a dance floor full of energy. And that's not all: on 3 August, The Hague African Festival celebrates the richness of African culture and music, and on 17 August, The Hague Beat Festival pops into the park with local beats, live acts and DJs.

5. Symphony in the Park: goose-bump moments in greenery
For anyone who loves live music with a classical or cinematic edge. Symphony in the Park brings three special evenings this year:

  • July 30: Lunch concert by the Summer Orchestra
  • 6 August: Young Metropole - young talent with a big sound
  • 23 August: Residentie Orkest plays with the Zuiderpark Summer Orchestra

And as icing on the cake, there will be a grand anniversary concert on 18 September with Shirma Rouse, the Royal Air Force Orchestra and the Gospel Choir ZO! (15th anniversary). Classical with soul, gospel and power.

Bonus:
South Park Theatre is celebrating its 10th anniversary. So expect extra celebration, stories and summer magic on the island in the park.
