Amba has a birthday and proudly treats her class to a Surinamese treat. She wears a special koto for her birthday. She used to be afraid to do so. Until grandma taught her all about Surinamese culture and how the Netherlands and Suriname are inseparable.

Cooking with Amba is a musical and tasty performance (6+) in which we tell the family history of ten-year-old Amba through Surinamese cuisine. Accompanied by swinging songs with percussion, hammond organ and trombone, we follow the trail of Amba's family back in time: from the Netherlands via Suriname to West Africa.
