On the closing weekend of A Mile in My Shoes, mayor Jan van Zanen stepped into the slippers of a Hague citizen. At the Zuiderparktheater, he visited the shoebox and listened to the story of Danny, who was stuck in a Peruvian prison for ten years. Afterwards, he spoke to the storytellers and volunteers manning the 'shoe shop'.
The art project A Mile in My Shoes by British artist Clare Patey (Empathy Museum) was in The Hague since 9 June. It was one of the highlights during the 27th edition of Winternachten international literature festival (the summer edition) and then travelled on to the Zuiderparktheater. During a short walk, participants then hear the life story of the shoes' owner through headphones.
