SPOT comes to The Hague with horror drama 'Jekyll & Hyde', opening our 2023 season!
Ticket sales for Theatre Group SPOT's thrilling musical 'Jekyll & Hyde' will start on Saturday, 11 February. The musical tells the thrilling story of good and evil, based on the book The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. On Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May 2023, Theatre Group SPOT will perform this play at the South Park Theatre.
Since October 2022, Theatre Group SPOT has been working on this musical under the direction of director Ino Mijland, choreographer Eugène Jans and musical director Richard FitzHugh. Accompanied by a live orchestra, you can see Jekyll & Hyde at a unique location: the Openluchttheater Zuiderpark in The Hague.
The story
We are in London, anno 1888. A prosperous city of millions with great differences between the wealthy elite and the plodding low class. Dr Henry Jekyll (Dennis Bes), after the death of his father, who dies of mental illness, starts a grand experiment towards splitting the good and evil in man, in order to eradicate evil and free man from all intolerance.
The elite reject Jekyll's ideas and label them unethical. But his fiancée Emma Danvers (Madeleine Braakman), daughter of a prominent man in London's elite, remains by Jekylls side. However, during a wild night, his eye also falls on the beautiful Lucy Harris (Eveline Castelein), who develops a special relationship with the two-faced doctor.
Henry Jekyll is determined to achieve his goal and makes a drastic decision, with disastrous consequences for those around him and himself. A story about inner divisions, love and facades. Performed with poignant, symphonic and moving songs.

About Theatre Group SPOT
SPOT is Hague-based association for adults with a passion for theatre in a performing and/or supporting role. Theatre group SPOT originated in 1986 as part of the Rijswijk Youth Theatre and continued as an independent association in The Hague from 1996. This means that they have now been producing productions for 30 years and of course we are proud of that. Every season we bring a big musical to The Hague, give concerts in care homes and do numerous small-scale projects. A Musical Choir has been added to this since 2022.
