René Bom's Parkpop memories and four other South Park stories take centre stage at Tasty Stories Parade.
The Zuiderpark exists 100 years this year. For this special anniversary, Haags Verhaal, the Participation Kitchen and the Zuiderpark Theatre are organising a unique storytelling evening. Memories of the park, its events, its visitors and its future will take centre stage. For instance, Donata van der Goorbergh's childhood dream about the moon living in the park gets new life at the Supermoon. Neighbourhood camping initiator Irina Simons came to the park as a child and sees the park as a place without barriers where everyone is equal. Sowyen Martina has a special bond with the trees in the park where she finds peace. Youth worker Akin Yalcin sees opportunities for the future as a meeting place for youth at this milestone. Former night mayor reminisces about 40 years of Parkpop and Hague beat. The stories will be given extra colour with various artists such as musicians from the Royal Conservatory, brass band The Legendairs and many others. During the evening, there will be various dishes provided by the Participation Kitchen's Aanschuiftafels. Ticket sales have started via zuiderparktheater.nl.
Personal stories
Eating together with fellow townsfolk and listening to personal stories is the concept of the Tasty Stories Parade. Get on the carousel and be taken across our island to multiple stages and kitchens. Berber Koopmans of Haags Verhaal says: "For the first edition on Tuesday 5 July, the most beautiful stories have been gathered around love, sports and encounters from 100 years of Zuiderpark! Rene, Akin, Irina, Donata and Sowyen will get the stage for that,'' they explain.
How it works and what to expect. "As a guest of this evening, you will be divided into one of four groups. For each course, you and your group will walk past a little restaurant where you will be served a dish. In each little restaurant, personal stories will be told and between courses of this special dinner, there will be troubadours, spoken-word artists and musicians to guide you from one restaurant to another."
A second evening on Thursday 7 September will focus on the commemorative Year of Slavery Past. zuiderparktheater.nl.
