On Sunday 22 August 2021, the open-air Zuiderparktheater in The Hague will host the second edition of the Musical Summer Concert. The cast consists of talents who have more than earned their spurs in various musicals in recent years: April Darby, Tessa Sunniva van Tol, Esmée Dekker, Milan van Waardenburg and David van den Tempel. Billy Maluw and André van Damme are responsible for the musical accompaniment. April Darby featured, among others, in leading roles in Sister Act, The Bodyguard and Aida in Concert. Tessa Sunniva van Tol played the title roles in the musical Anastasia and The Little Mermaid and featured in Germany as Jane in the Disney musical Tarzan. Esmée Dekker, starred as Eliza Doolittle in the most recent revival of My Fair Lady and featured in the David Bowie musical Lazarus and if the mistress in Evita. Milan van Waardenburg could be seen last season as Dmitri in the musical Anastasia, a role he previously performed in Germany. Milan further featured in Tanz der Vampieren and Der Glöckner von Notre Dame. David van den Tempel featured in musicals such as Soldier of Orange, The Full Monty, The Big Three and Vietnam. Billy Maluw was featured as a singer/songwriter in, among others, The Voice of Holland and is a sought-after accompanist for musical stars such as Pia Douwes, Stanley Burleson and many others. André van Damme has been in demand as a drummer for more than 25 years in over 70 musicals and theatre productions by De Graaf and Cornelissen and Stage Entertainment, among others.
The Musical Summer Concert guarantees an hour and a half of enjoying the best musical hits. Hits from the artists' careers will not be missing from the concert. But not only the famous classics from shows such as The Phantom of the Opera and Wicked are featured, new hit musicals and off-Broadway productions are also part of this musical programme.
Besides the five soloists and the two musicians, we have a wonderful large choir/ ensemble. This ensemble consists of Aimée Boesveld, Angelina Garcia, Bas van der Meulen, Benthe Jansen, Dewi Inesia, Dieuwertje Hoefnagel, Esmée Wagelaar, Fleur Kerkhof, Frederique Groenendaal, Henno Ravensbergen , Isa Boekhoud, Leslie van Galen, Luna Peters , Maya de Bakker, Noa Schotman , Roefke Kusters, Rowell Molena, Silke Van Durme, Sterre Willemse, Sylke Deters and Vera de Bruin.
