Through a spotlight, a shadow world comes to life, a world that shows our human, recognisable but often unexpressed emotions and feelings. The taboo on expressing our emotions and feelings most of us recognise but does not make expressing them natural. This causes short- and long-term physical and mental consequences. To break the taboo, Self Spot (2022) puts our difficulties literally and figuratively in the spotlight.

A torch allows visitors to shine on a kitchen, revealing shadows of objects within the frame of the spotlight. Soon, the shadows begin to come alive. Each object has its own character traits, emotions and feelings, just like us.
