Normally, The Hague summer theatre's season starts in May but due to coronagraphs, much of the programme has fallen by the wayside. On June 1, 2020, the theatre had a first with the first 'Lucky Thirty' festival after the lockdown. Thirty lucky people enjoyed Sjaak Bral, Ed Struijlaart and Tim Akkerman in a coronaproof setting. On 1 July, measures for outdoor activities were relaxed and as a result, the Zuiderparktheater can now accommodate a maximum of 250 people at 1.5 metres. One household is allowed to sit together. Zuiderpark summer concert Residentie Orkest
Residentie Orkest has been a regular partner in South Park Theatre's summer programme for many years. The musical programme is about the most famous love couple in history: Romeo and Juliet. Francis van Broekhuizen, one of our country's best-known opera singers, sings arias by Mozart, Massenet and Puccini. Be touched by her disarming stage personality and the romance of the story in The Hague's open-air theatre. The South Park Summer Concert on Sunday 30 August is free to attend (do make reservations) and an accessible introduction to classical music and the orchestra.
