Zuiderparktheater, Holiday Pass and Theatre & Filmhuis Dakota celebrate the start of the Summer holidays together!

Not every Hague child has the opportunity to go on summer holidays. Yet for every Hague child, the six weeks off from school starts. The Zuiderpark Theatre will host 'Holiday Park' for six weeks from Monday 11 July. Just like last year, the theatre island is open three days a week free of charge for a daily changing programme of sports, games, art and culture. With the Holiday Pass, the passport for children from The Hague, the summer holidays will be festively kicked off on the Monday. Deputy mayor Kavita Parbhudayal will give the starting signal, Drumdrumdrum will perform free of charge with the performance Banwakaboom and there will be disco with DJ Funky Fran. The first Holiday Post for grandparents of Florence Care Group in The Hague will also be made and handed over that day. A day later, on Tuesday 12 July, Zuiderparktheater and Dakota will take to the neighbourhood with a preview of our Holiday Park and Dakota's Ook van Jou festival.

Free opening summer holidays

On the very first day of the holidays, the Zuiderparktheater will be open from 13.30 hrs. Come nice and early and enjoy everything the Holiday Park has to offer: play a game of badminton, craft Vakantiepost, play Boeken(ping)pong led by Bibliotheek Den Haag or read a book in our hammock forest. At 15.00 the opening will start with the deputy mayor and Mrwan from the Hague Council of Children. Drumdrum will make it a Caribbean party with the performance Banwakaboom which DJ FunkyFran will close with funky disco. Admission is free however reservations can be made via zuiderparktheater.nl.

Holiday post for Hague grandparents

In cooperation with the Holiday Pass, we are making postcards for senior citizens of The Hague at the Zuiderparktheater throughout the summer. Grandpas and grandmas of sometimes up to 90 who don't get many visitors during the summer holidays and would really like to receive a nice postcard. We ask children to draw, colour, decorate and describe the pre-printed postcards. It will be posted in a special mailbox. We will deliver them to senior citizens living in Florence residential care centres in The Hague. The first card will be handed over to the director on Monday 11 July.

On tour with Theatre & Filmhuis Dakota

On Tuesday 12 July, we will descend on 2 different locations in Escamp with a mini-holiday festival. We bring a low-threshold pop-up festival to Bouwlust and Moerwijk. With this we invite children from the neighbourhood. In Bouwlust there is a ukkie concert, crafts programme, a visit by Arie Vontura with his silent disco performance (5+) and children learn to dance together by Tiktok star #Shainy. In Moerwijk, the neighbourhood garden near the Van Baerlestraat is the place to work on a cool work of art with artist duo Hellweg and La Cruz. Also travelling with them are Arie Vontura and Shainy.

Holiday park programme

On the island of the South Park Theatre, there will be an ever-changing free programme on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for six weeks from Wednesday 13 July throughout the summer holidays. Playing together, playing sports, performing, lazing around, crafts, dancing and much more. The 'you-see-where-what-is-there-to-do' daily schedule is approachable, relaxed and inviting for all ages. Go for a spin together in the Relaxerette a veritable Ferris wheel of chill hammocks. Learn to paint from Akin, play sports with Dennis, go TikTokken with Amel, freestyle football or join the weekly music workshops. The grounds transform into a festival area with children's craft garden, coffee bar, park library, shows and unexpected performances. On Tuesdays, we finish with a crazy kids' disco, on Wednesdays we have a sumptuous lunch with Aïcha and every Thursday we end with live music!
